Real-Time & Media
WebRTC
The real-time media protocol underneath every live video session we operate.
Where This Fits
WebRTC is the open standard for real-time audio, video, and data transport in the browser, and the protocol BigBlueButton itself is built on. Understanding it directly, not just the platform on top, is what lets us debug connection issues and tune media server configuration.
How It's Typically Deployed
Relies on STUN/TURN relay servers (coturn) to establish connections through firewalls and NAT, load-balanced across BigBlueButton server pools by Scalelite.
